I love when the mail arrives. It’s great getting something fun! “some paintings” by Sandra Flood came in the mail today. It’s a wonderful book of her amazing paintings. A treasure. I was so happy to turn each page and see what was next. If you enjoy her artwork it’s an inspiring resource of beautiful paintings and some insight and practical information such as her palette for several of the paintings. Great job Sandra, love your work!
Flow Magazine, one of my very favorite magazines, is created in the Netherlands by two very creative gals, Astrid and Irene. What fun they must have every day creating a magazine about creativity, mindfull living and simplifying life. I carry it around with me and read it over and over, always finding a new treasure inside. You really should treat yourself to an issue!
Today I dropped off some of my new “Lancaster Blocks” at Building Character in downtown Lancaster at the Eclectic Collective Booth. I was inspired to create some small paintings of signs from around Lancaster, up close and personal. My first two were Stans Records and Here To Timbuktu. First I created the paintings and then created some fun wooden blocks (thanks for the wood blocks, Landon!), in the theme of children’s blocks with letters that you could spell out words. Maybe HOME, LANCASTER, LOVE, the possibilities are endless. Go check them out at First Friday tomorrow night, if you get a chance. Let me know what you think!
Life has been so busy that I’ve not had time to breathe. Or paint. I have been doing some fun things such as a life drawing class on Wednesday evenings that I am loving. It’s such a treat. And this past weekend we did Pysanke Eggs at my house. It used to be a yearly tradition, but it’s so much work and such a big time commitment, we just couldn’t fit it in for several years. I think it’s important for Isabel, my daughter, to have the experience of learning Pysanke, which comes from my husband’s Russian heritage. Donna, his cousin, taught Isabel her grandmothers own design. We had lots of fun creating these beautiful eggs. Happy Easter!
I have several of my paintings on display at Building Character in downtown Lancaster. It’s an eclectic group of shops in cool old historic warehouses on the 300 Block of North Queen Street. I hope to make more fun things to sell there, maybe cards and magnets, and some prints of my artwork. If you live in Lancaster, stop by and let me know what you think.
Two of my paintings have been accepted into the Philadelphia Sketch Club Art of the Flower Show. I am excited to be chosen to be part of this show which opens on Sunday, March 2.
