Sweet memories

Dressing up in fun outfits, walking around the neighborhood, and getting all the candy you could possibly eat.…what could be better?

I loved halloween. My mother always made my costumes—no store bought for me. My mother and I would spend endless hours in the basement with her sewing curtains, pillows, hemming pants for friends, and making some of the best barbie clothing of all time. And I would be playing, drawing and creating while Who Loves Lucy, Courtship of Eddies Father and The Dating Game would be playing on tv in the background.

I imagined myself being a card club lady (I thought that’s what my mothers job was), or a clothing pattern designer when I grew up. I spent endless hours with her in the fabric store looking through all of the pattern books. When I look back I know I was always an artist at heart. It was a long and winding road leading me to where I am today because each thing that happens in life leads you to where you are meant to be. The magic is in trusting the journey.

So, thank you mom for providing me with the time and space for creativity when I was young, all of those cozy afternoon together and thank you for the adorable pilgrim costume. Happy Halloween my friends!
