All together

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts…

I recently spent a weekend with the most amazing creative friends…my mastermind group of 3+ years. We met online through a mutual friend during covid, and have been together, virtually, ever since.

We bounce ideas off of each other, have a safe place to land when we are feeling creatively challanged, we inspire each other and have become the best of friends, all while never actually having met in person.

That all changed when we made plans to meet for a long weekend (all but one of us, we missed you Maria!). We spent a night in Boston for dinner and some inspiring museum hopping and then spent a few nights in an amazing airbnb in Cape Cod.

We laughed, and talked through our current challenges and opportunities, painted together and even brought special hand-made gifts to share with each other. It was as if we had been friends for a lifetime.

It’s one of the great things that has come out of this crazy online world that we have found ourselves in. A community with people we would never have met otherwise.

My friend Kate is one of the magical souls in our group and she is an artist who captures everyday moments around the home and garden in a colorful way, she illustrates books and makes pottery with her mom in her Tennessee studio. The other day she posted her daily morning find and I fell in love with the image of flowers in a vase that she and her mom had made together.

So I asked if she minded if I used it as painting inspiration. It’s fun to see how things inspire each of us differently. Like a signature they are the same yet completely different.

I love how we each bring something new and different to the process of creativity and are even better together…in art, and in life!

Thank you for inspiring me Kate!
