As luck would have it

You know those days…when nothing seems to go right…and you feel discouragement creeping in? It’s sneaky, and can appear out of nowhere.

Sometimes when I feel it lurking, I tell myself it’s just overwhelm and maybe, just maybe, if I take a few things off my to-do list, it won’t creep up on me.

Well that’s exactly how I was feeling yesterday, but, as luck would have it, I usually get a reminder that I am on the right path with this crazy creative journey of mine, of painting, teaching, doing art shows, having a membership group, and on and on.

This time the friendly reminder came in the form of a note from a student from my recent workshop at Square Pear Gallery….

Hi Friends!  Just wanted to share with the group 😊 After attending Kim’s fabulous workshop at the Square Pear Gallery in Kennett Square a couple weeks ago, I was motivated and feeling confident to get back to the Art in Bloom lessons from forever ago, and attempted the Sunflower lesson last night.

If you haven’t taken Kim’s Art in Bloom course or one of her in-person workshops yet I highly recommend both!! Both courses take you through her process from start to finish, breaking it down into sections so that it’s easy to follow. I went in to the Square Pear workshop not having painted in probably a year or more and I was never that great to begin with. I never thought I would be able to accomplish a painting that looked even remotely like hers. After the first day of painting I was so inspired that I went home and organized my office and set up my painting space. And after the second day I felt like I had the confidence and the motivation I needed to go back and attempt the lessons from Art in Bloom, which I had put off for almost 2 years 🥴

Here is my sunflower🌻 from Art in Bloom and also sharing my Peony painting from the Square Pear workshop because I’m actually kind of proud of it! I see some things I’d like to do differently but I appreciate those learning moments also as I continue on to the next one. Thanks again Kim!!

Just when I needed a bit of positive reinforcement, this came and reminded me of why I do all that I do…spread beauty and inspiration, one day at a time…

And her work is so gorgeous, right?
