Betty Franks Krause | Art crush xo
Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Betty Franks Krause and you can find me in San Jose, California most of the time and in Preko, Croatia during different times of the year where I visit my parents.
Is creating art your passion and/or your profession?
I'd say that creating art is both my passion and profession. It first became a passion and then developed into a full-time business for me. I'm truly blessed and grateful every day to be able to create art and send it out into the world to be enjoyed by others.
How did you get into doing it?
I started out making cards for friends and family for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Once I discovered mixed media art on the internet, I fell madly in love and knew that I wanted to create that type of art. After several years of creating mixed media art, I then focused on being an abstract painter. I got rid of all my mixed media supplies so that I wouldn't be distracted. It's been a lovely journey discovering my own style and voice.
What is your driving force?
I believe my driving force is my desire to want to create. I don't create every day, so I get that pent up feeling of wanting to express myself after a few days. I think I have some of my best sessions when that happens.
What is your current inspiration?
My current inspiration comes from my love for flowers and especially, fields of flowers.
What kind of work do you do and why?
I create abstract art using acrylics and pencils that shows my love for fields of flowers. My paintings are often bright, layered with texture, and often evoke feelings of joy and happiness in the viewer.
Is there something fun that’s currently inspiring you?
I'm not a fan of the winter months. Since it's November and we're heading into colder weather and Covid-19 still affecting our ability to move around freely, I'm focused on creating pieces that remind me of spring and summer. I look forward to the warmth of the sun and the flowers all in bloom again.
I’ve been a big fan of Bettys art. It makes me yearn to paint abstract, which I try every now and then, inspired by Betty. And I even have my very own Betty Franks Krause original. Lucky me!
