Jumping out of my comfort zone, AGAIN!
One of my intensions for 2022 is to dive into creating more landscape paintings, and if I’m super lucky, maybe even give plein air painting a try! But in the meantime, I will search through my photo archives and try painting some landscapes from photos I’ve taken over the years.
This one was a fun challenge…I painted a base layer of burnt sienna and alizarin crimson which came out much darker than I intended…but I decided to paint this with all my instagram friends watching, just to see what could happen. And I am super happy with the results. And I love the bits of the background wash peeking through. I definitely had to feel my way through a longer than normal messy middle, and held my breath a few times, but it all worked out in the end, I’d say. You can watch this painting come to life on my YouTube channel through the link below. Enjoy!
