Inspiration for art is everywhere, often in the most unexpected places. It’s really all about stopping to notice…and to really pay attention.
In all honesty stopping being in the moment isn’t something that comes natually to me. I’m always a mile ahead of where I really am. But being artist is teaching me how to slow down, to be in the moment instead of miles ahead. Don’t get me wrong, I am far from mastering it, but let’s just say that I am embracing where I am right now. This moment in my artistic journey.
Instead of always seeing my flaws…being messy, disorganized, scatterbrained, I’m choosing to see myself as a work-in-progress.
And even though I am all of these things, I am also really great at seeing, appreciating and sharing the beauty of everyday life. And I have the opportunity to do what I love, every single day. I always seek inspiration in unexpected places, and I love sharing them with you.
This painting of Frida Kahlo is about feeling beautiful inside and out. Frida, a beautiful, brave and vibrant artist, is an inspiration. And the inspiration for the flowers in her hair are colors from of a new palette from Ulta Beauty who is celebrating her life as an inspiring artist with a new beautiful line of make-up which will be available in stores on July 21st!
Never apologize for who you are.
You can see where I got my inspiration here.
What a fun challenge it was to paint a portrait. It’s not something I do very often, actually I’ve only done it a few times, but it’s something I would love to do more. The subtleties of color in skin is amazing! And you can see how messy I am. No apologies! Just a work-in-progress! And oh, the palette of her flowers is gorgeous, right?
