Peonies in vase oil painting demo

Yes, it’s actually a painting of peonies in front of a painting of peonies. The challenge was to keep the foreground and background looking like they are separate, and not on the same plane. I was successful at letting little bits of unexpected color show through, and keeping my brushstrokes fresh, fluid and intentional. All constant goals of mine. I think if I had to choose a word of the year for my art it would be intentional. What would yours be?
