A Shift in Perspective

I just had the most magical weekend. The kind that fills your heart so full you can practically feel it glowing. My son married his girlfriend of over ten years—the sweetest, most wonderful human, and now officially part of our family (though she’s felt like family for years). The entire weekend was a whirlwind of love, laughter, and celebration with our most cherished friends and family. Truly unforgettable.

Of course, a weekend like this doesn’t just happen. There were months of planning, prepping, and making sure every little detail came together. I got to put my creative touch on so many things—designing the save-the-dates, invitations, posters, programs, and even helping with the flowers (oh, the joy of playing with fresh blooms!).

Then, after all the excitement, I stepped back into my studio. I was tired, drained, and immediately found my brain scanning the unfinished to-do list I had put on pause for the wedding. All the things I had been avoiding. All the things I should be worrying about now.

And then I stopped myself. Wait a minute.

Why was I framing it this way? These weren’t burdens. These were opportunities—chances to step outside my comfort zone, grow, and move toward the next amazing thing. Life is full of these moments, and I hope they never stop coming. They’re not just tasks; they’re stepping stones, invitations to embrace something new and exciting.

So here’s my little perspective shift—one that I know I’ll need to remind myself of again and again. And maybe it’s one you need too.

May you be curious. May you be open to the opportunities that come your way. And may you embrace them with open arms, because who knows what magic they’ll bring?
