Embracing Growth and Creativity

As an artist, I believe that the beauty of our journey lies in the constant pursuit of new skills and inspiration. Just like you, I am drawn to a multitude of creative outlets – from painting with oils and watercolors, to venturing into color theory, pottery, and knitting. The possibilities are endless, and with each new endeavor, we uncover fresh perspectives that shape our unique artistic voices.

In the wise words of Kurt Vonnegut, "We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down." Every leap into the unknown adds depth to our artistic repertoire, paving the way for personal growth and self-expression. It's about embracing the learning process, unafraid of creating imperfect pieces as we expand our horizons.

Next week, I am so looking forward to a plein air workshop in Marietta, PA, where I will dive into the world of outdoor painting with some of my very favorite art friends. It's an opportunity to refine my skills in a new setting, nurturing a spirit of curiosity and openness to the unknown. Sure, I’ll be nervous at first, but I’ll be there to learn so I will welcome “ugly” paintings with open arms. Because that’s how learning happens best, with being willing to jump out of my comfort zone, and make mistakes with no judgement.
